What to Take with You on Your Alaskan Cruise
What should I bring on an Alaskan cruise?
When taking an Alaska cruise there are some things that you should make
sure to bring with you and also some things that you need to purchase
for your cruise. By making sure that you have brought all the
things that are needed you can relax and enjoy your vacation. Many
of these things will seem like common sense to an experienced cruiser
but for first time cruises these things can get over looked in the
excitement of taking an Alaska cruise.
First off when booking your cruise make sure that you purchase Travel
Protection Insurance. This insurance will protect you in many ways. An
Alaska cruise is usually booked well in advance and no one knows what
life has in store, so something can come up forcing you to cancel your
cruise. With Travel Protection Insurance you are protected in the event
that you have to cancel due to an illness, major injury or death of you,
a family member, partner or even your traveling partner. This insurance
also protects your investment in the event of a natural disaster or even
terrorism. Travel Protection Insurance goes beyond just protecting your
investment in the event the cruise is cancelled for one of the above
reasons. Travel Protection Insurance also protects you when on a cruise.
In the event of illness or injury on the cruise your Travel Protection
Insurance will pay for your medical treatment. Your luggage will
also be protected under this plan.
Make sure to have with you at all times either a passport, notarized
copy of your birth certificate and a picture id. Alaska is part of the
United States but when taking an Alaska cruise you will end up during
part of your cruise in Canada. It is during this time that you must have
your proper proof of US citizenship on you.
Bring with you the obvious proper clothing for a cruise. Proper clothing
for a cruise are those that are considered to be resort casual and also
formal for the formal nights. Swimsuits and such should be brought for
times spent in the pool or Jacuzzi. Also allow for the weather in
Alaska and bring fall/winter clothes with you. Dressing for the weather
includes layering your clothes on. As the weather is changing you can
remain comfortable at all times. Hiking boots should also be brought
along so that you can take part in certain shore excursions if you
booked any.
Most cruise lines place hotel size soaps and shampoos in your room. It
is recommended though to bring your own personal soaps and shampoos.
With those items you need to include razors, shave cream, lotions,
toothpaste and toothbrushes. Keep it to all toiletries items that you
would take with you on an extended vacation. The length of your trip and
the amount of people in your party will determine the sizes and how much
of each item to bring.
Spending money is also recommended so that you can dine while in a port
of call or take in some shopping. When traveling on an Alaska
cruise don’t take a large amount of money instead travel using
traveler’s checks. You can replace traveler’s checks in the event
of theft but you can not replace money. A vacation is not the time to
have your reserve spending cash gone for good.
